Introspection is always a good idea 😉

    The work is already over and it is time to reflect and criticize ourselves. This post is about the process - success and failures, unexpectedness and obstacles, my part in the project and performance.

     Firstly, I want to remind you about our project. It will result in the 3d First-person sci-fi shooter with low-poly graphics and economy mechanics. Our project is in the stage of development, when all the preparations and analysis have been finished, and we are in the process of coding. A lot of things have changed dramatically since my last post, actually. So, let me start.

    Our first sprint assumed brainstorming. Here we had a sticking point - half of our team wanted to implement the project in one way and they were deeply concerned about poor management of the project from a technical point of view, and the second half saw everything differently. So, it was killing, but… we’ve coped with it. We have made a complex decision to use the template and we have been conducting vital overall research about it and things that we might include in our project too. I am really proud of us because of this situation. We didn’t start arguing, we just sat and decided everything. Great work!

    Turning to the bad things in our work… I want to say that nothing spesial has happened. Everything is going according to the plan and all tasks are implemented gently. I think that the only problem is laziness, so for this reason we almost didn’t fit some things into deadlines, although it is fixable. 

    Lastly, I want to touch upon my role in this project. I am a product manager and an art director. Personally I have made market analysis, customer targeting to understand customers needs in our project. So, as product manager, I should monitor the situation, new products, etc. - generally the whole field and I am trying to do this to the present day. But other than that, now I am involved in the coding part and I am responsible for the overall style. In order to fulfill my duties, I should look for models of various things in the game that suit our main style.

    Furthermore, I want to point out that during the working process, all team members did not quarrel and tried to listen and hear each other. By the way, in my opinion, it is one of the most important elements of the group work. To tell the truth, I am very blessed to have this team and be part of it!

    It’s very nice to hear that growth process and even if you had some problems, you got over them as a team. The main idea of the game sounds interesting :)
